The Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life is a helpful way to step back and see how balanced your life feels right now. It’s not about perfection—it’s about awareness. Here’s how you can try it for yourself:

1. Draw a Circle

On a piece of paper, draw a large circle (or use the template provided) and divide it into 8 sections, like a pie. Label each section with an important area of life. Common ones include:

  • Career / Work
  • Health
  • Family & Friends
  • Love / Relationships
  • Personal Growth
  • Fun & Recreation
  • Finances
  • Home / Environment

(Feel free to change these categories to whatever matters most to you.)

2. Rate Each Area

In each section, give yourself a score from 1–10, where **1** means “very dissatisfied” and **10** means “completely satisfied.” Shade or mark each section up to your score.

3. Look at Your Wheel

Step back and look at the picture you’ve created. Does your wheel look balanced, or are some areas much lower than others? If this wheel were on a bicycle, would it roll smoothly?

4. Reflect

  • Which areas feel strong and fulfilling?
  • Which areas might need more care or attention?
  • What small step could you take this week to improve just one area?

Remember, this isn’t a test. It’s a tool to help you reflect, reset, and choose where to focus your energy. Even a tiny change in one area can help your wheel roll a little more smoothly.

Present moment awareness process

Use this process any time you catch your thoughts going toward the future (or the past) in a way that is making you feel uncomfortable, insecure or anxious. The more you practice catching yourself and bringing your awareness to the now, the easier it will get and the earlier you will be able to catch yourself.

  • Become aware of the moment
  • Notice your body
  • Notice your breathing – appreciate your lungs and your heart
  • Notice the warm, tingling sensation in your hands
  • Feel the life in your whole body
  • Notice the sounds around you – appreciate how your ears interpret the vibration and allow you to experience your environment
  • Notice the space in the room you are in – feel how the empty space allows the objects to be there
  • Notice the light around you and where it’s coming from
  • Ask yourself, what is right with this moment? What is beautiful? What do you appreciate?

Why does this present moment awareness process work? Because if you stop thinking, by intentionally focusing your mind on the present moment, you stop resisting or worrying – and you feel better. Doing this SLOWS DOWN your thinking.

So, now that your mind is back within your control- ask yourself:

  • What would I prefer to think about instead?
  • Is there a different way I can look at this topic that I feel better about?

Be patient, it takes practice!

If this helped you create a little space, you can go deeper with longer, structured resets designed for busy minds.
